Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to our most commonly asked questions.  If you can't find an answer to your question here, then send us an email with your question and we'll respond to you directly.

Do I really make a difference by playing TunesFeed?

Yes. The servings you donate to local community food banks keep the shelves full for those in need and this makes a huge difference to the children who receive it. If we all do a little we can achieve a lot!

Who pays for the donated servings of food?

The servings are paid for by the sponsors whose names you see on the bottom of your screen when you enter a vote on a song. These sponsors support the cause of reducing childhood hunger in local communities in America. We thank these sponsors for their generous participation at TunesFeed. For information about how you or your company can be a TunesFeed sponsor, please email info@tunesfeed.org.

How do I start playing TunesFeed?

To play, click on the "Register and Play" button. Once you provide your opinion on how much you love a song or not starts the process where TunesFeed donates a serving of food to help end child hunger. Your donation is automatically counted without any further action required on your part. You will then have the opportunity to keep rating song after song after song.  You can play as long as you like and donate as many servings as you like.

How does the TunesFeed program work?

TunesFeed has a custom database containing the top songs in a variety of music genres that might fit your taste in music.

What happens if my computer suddenly loses power while I am in the middle of playing? Does my donation still count?

Once your screen says that you have donated a certain amount of servings, our servers have registered it. For example, suppose your screen says that you have donated 50 servings of food. If your computer then suddenly loses power, or you close your browser, or you click to go somewhere else, your donation has already been counted.

How do you track the answers and servings donated for each person?

When you select an answer, this information is sent to one of our servers via a regular HTML form. It adds both your personal total of servings and your votes on each song.

If TunesFeed has the food to give, why not give it all away right now?

You and other TunesFeed players earn it 5 songs and one serving at a time. Here is how it works: for every 5 songs rated a serving of food is generated. The sponsors that appear in the banners at the bottom of your screen have agreed to pay for the servings you produce with your song votes. The money generated by these banners is then used to buy the servings. So by playing, you generate the money that pays for the food donated to feed hungry children.

Does TunesFeed make any money from doing this?

TunesFeed does not make any money from this. TunesFeed.org is a nonprofit organization and is registered as a 501(c)(3) with the IRS. The organization, through its website, is committed to the cause of ending child hunger in America. All money raised by TunesFeed.org is used to help feed hungry children in local communities.

What is the history of TunesFeed?

TunesFeed was founded in October 2014 by Mike Anthony.

In addition to providing food, TunesFeed helps hungry people to become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good. Wherever possible, they purchase food locally to save on transportation costs and to help boost local markets.

How can I share TunesFeed with others?

Since TunesFeed's strength is in the number of people using it, you can make a big difference simply by spreading the word about hunger through blogs or communities where TunesFeed exists like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

How can I make a donation to buy more food for hungry people?

If you like, you can make a donation to TunesFeed.org to help TunesFeed buy more food to feed hungry people or if you would like to become a sponsor for TunesFeed, please email info@tunesfeed.org.

What is being done to end child hunger?

There is great progress being made to end child hunger. Many organizations in local communities are involved in this struggle. Each day, hundreds to thousands of ordinary men and women work for these organizations. Through their efforts, millions of impoverished children have food to eat and find hope for the future.

Problems With Audio

Problems with audio can have many different reasons. Please find below instructions to deal with the most common ones.

  • Make sure your headset or speakers are properly connected and turned on. Also check any volume controls.

  • If you are using an external amplifier, make sure it is turned on and the volume is at the right level.

  • Your speaker icon is normally displayed to the left of the computer clock. Click on the icon and make sure the volume is turned up, and the mute button is NOT checked.

  • Check your audio settings. The sound files usually use the default Windows Media Player or a standard audio player on your computer. If you have altered your audio settings, the pronunciation tool files may not be recognized by an audio program on your computer.

  • Restart your computer and try again. This often resolves software conflicts with other programs using conflicting audio settings.

Does TunesFeed help the homeless?

TunesFeed provides meals to people who are hungry, and do not receive enough nutrition to lead healthy and active lives.

While some of those people may be homeless, many or even most do have homes. Hunger is not caused only by homelessness, but is often caused by natural disasters such as droughts or floods, political instability, high food prices, poverty and other triggers.

Can I change my username?

You cannot change your username, this can only be changed by the TunesFeed team.

If you have a very good and urgent reason for needing to change the username, please email info@tunesfeed.org along with the reason, the username you need to change and the new username that you would like to use?
